On Tuesday, Minister R Bindu of the Higher Education Department announced that starting next year, all degree courses will have a duration of four years.
The minister emphasized that this arrangement allows students to choose whether they wish to pursue further studies in the fourth year, as there will be an exit policy in place after the third year. Upon completion of three years, students will receive a graduation certificate.
Students who have a keen interest can opt to continue their studies into the fourth year, where they will be eligible for an Honors degree. The fourth year will place significant emphasis on research and internships. Minister R Bindu, the Minister of Higher Education, stated that the state has successfully developed a Kerala curriculum framework, marking a historic achievement.
The process has been completed, with the curriculum framework being managed by the State Higher Education Council and handed over to the universities in April. The universities are now responsible for developing the syllabus based on the curriculum, as stated by the minister.
