CAT 2023 exam is expect to to be conducted on November 26. The official notification regarding the exam is yet to be released by IIM Lucknow on July 31, which is organizing the exam this year.

Registrations for CAT 2023 will begin in the first week of August on the iimcat.ac.in website. The registration process will be conducted online, requiring candidates to create a login ID, complete the application form, and pay the exam fee. It is anticipated that there will be no changes to the CAT syllabus or exam pattern.

CAT Exam 2023

CAT 2023 Exam Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to appear for the CAT exam, candidates must meet the minimum eligibility criteria, which include:

  1. Graduation: Candidates must have completed a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institute. The degree should be awarded by an institution recognized by the Indian government or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

  2. Percentage: There is no specific minimum percentage requirement for CAT. However, candidates must have obtained a minimum aggregate score of 50% (45% for SC, ST, and PWD categories) or an equivalent CGPA. The calculation of the percentage or CGPA will be based on the norms set by the respective university or institution.

  3. Final Year Candidates: Candidates who are in their final year of graduation and awaiting their results may also apply for the CAT exam. However, their admission will be provisional, subject to the fulfillment of the eligibility criteria mentioned above.

It is important for candidates to carefully check and understand the eligibility criteria set by the conducting body before applying for the CAT exam. CAT 2023 Exam Pattern & Duration

Common Admission Test (CAT 2023) will have 3 sections this year. The no. of questions have not been mentioned in CAT 2023 notification 66 (Expected). The following numbers are as per last year’s exam pattern:

  • Quantitative Ability (QA) – 22 questions
  • Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR)- 20 questions
  • Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC) – 24 questions

CAT 2023 exam duration has been increased to 120 minutes (40 Minute Each) from the previous 170 minutes.

All questions will not be multiple choice (MCQ) type. There will be some descriptive answers which you will have to type out on the screen.

No tutorial will be provided before the start of the test, and candidates are advised to go through the tutorials carefully from the official website which will be available by 18 Oct, 2017.

The total duration of CAT 2023 will be two hours and total number of questions is expected to be around 66.

CAT 2023 Exam Practice Test

Click here to access a practice test that has been provided to offer the candidates a feel of the timed sections, as well as navigation and functionality of the actual test. You are advised to go through this practice test carefully to familiarize yourself with the screens, layout, and navigation of CAT 2023.

At the test venue, each candidate will be seated at a desk with a computer terminal and he/she will be provided with a scratch paper for calculations. After the test, candidate must leave the scratch paper at the desk. Rough work cannot be done on any other paper/sheet, as nothing will be allowed inside the testing room. No breaks will be given during the test.

CAT 2023 Exam Syllabus

The CAT 2023 exam syllabus covers topics in English language, quantitative aptitude, data interpretation, and logical reasoning.

  • Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC): This section tests candidates’ English language skills, including their ability to read comprehension, grammar, and vocabulary.

    • Algebra: This part of the section tests candidates’ knowledge of basic algebraic concepts, such as equations, inequalities, and functions.
    • Geometry: This part of the section tests candidates’ knowledge of basic geometric concepts, such as shapes, lines, and angles.
    • Mensuration: This part of the section tests candidates’ knowledge of basic mensuration concepts, such as area, volume, and surface area.
    • Probability and Statistics: This part of the section tests candidates’ knowledge of basic probability and statistics concepts, such as permutations, combinations, and mean, median, and mode.

How to register for CAT 2023 Exam

Once the registration starts, you must log on to the website iimcat.ac.in to register for CAT 2023. You can register for CAT 2023 from 4rd August, 2023

The registration process for CAT 2023 involves several steps and is conducted online. Here are the steps you need to follow:

Visit the Official Website: Go to the official CAT 2023 website (iimcat.ac.in).

Register as a New User: Click on ‘New Registration’ if you are a new user. You will need to enter your name, date of birth, email address, and mobile number. After submitting these details, you will receive a unique User ID and Password on your registered email and mobile number.

Login to the Website: Using the User ID and Password provided, log in to the website.

Fill the Application Form: After logging in, you will be directed to the application form. Fill in all the required details, including personal information, academic qualifications, work experience, and program preferences.

Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of your passport-sized photograph, signature, and necessary certificates (if applicable). Make sure the documents are in the prescribed format and size.

Choose Test Centers: Select your preferred test centers from the list provided. You can choose up to six cities in order of preference.

Pay the Application Fee: After filling in all the details, proceed to pay the application fee. The fee can be paid online using a credit card, debit card, or net banking.

Review and Submit: Review all the details entered in the application form for any errors. Once you’re sure all the information is correct, submit the form.

Confirmation Email: After successful submission of the form and payment of the fee, you will receive a confirmation email on your registered email ID.

CAT 2023 Exam Fees

The CAT 2023 test fees is Rs.2,200 for general candidates & OBC candidates and Rs.1,100 for SC/ ST/ PWD candidates.

CAT 2023 will be held in online mode across 159 (approx.) cities in India with a total of 425 test centres.

CAT 2023 Results

CAT 2023 exam result is not yet available. The official notification for CAT 2023 has not been released yet, so the release date of the result is not yet known. However, it is likely that the result will be released in December 2023.

Once the result is released, it will be available on the official CAT website (https://iimcat.ac.in/). You can also check your result by logging in to your CAT account.

CAT 2023 result will include your overall score, as well as your sectional scores for VARC, DILR, and QA. Your overall score will be used to determine your percentile, which is a measure of your performance relative to other candidates who took the exam.

Your percentile will be used by B-schools to determine your eligibility for admission. The higher your percentile, the better your chances of getting admission to your desired B-school.
