DU Admissions 2022 : Decline in the Number of Admissions by Foreign Students

Copy of Copy of Copy of News featured image 2

Delhi University has admitted 520 foreign students across undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD courses this academic season, a decline of over 27.5 per cent from the previous year. The maximum number of students this year is from Nepal (110), followed by Tibet (100) and Bangladesh (85). A university official attributed the significant decline in admissions of foreign students to the delay in the start of the academic session.

In 2022, 520 foreign students were admitted to the university, compared to 663 in 2021. The number of applications from foreign nationals also dipped this year by over 28%. “The university received applications from over 7,000 applicants this year. Last year, the varsity received over 9,000 applications,” Professor Amarjiva Lochan, Jt Dean, International Relations told PTI.

IndiaEducation Counselling

This year, we’ve had the maximum number of applications from Nepal and last year it was from Afghan nationals. The admission process started in March and finished in the middle of July. 1,500 students were selected for admission in total.

Out of the total number of students who applied, only, 520 have confirmed their admission and are coming to Delhi. In UG courses, 320 students have taken admission, and in PG and PhD courses, 100 students and 50 students respectively have got admission in DU colleges,” Lochan said.

Karnataka NEET Counselling 2022: Online Registration Window will be Available up to October 20

Copy 1

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has announced that the online registration for the NEET UG counselling for admission to state quota seats has been extended. NEET 2022 qualified candidates who want to study at Karnataka medical colleges can apply at kea.kar.nic.in. The online registration window will be available up to October 20. The Karnataka NEET counselling process will be different for Karnataka and non-Karnataka candidates.

IndiaEducation Counselling

If the candidate has taken both NEET and CET exams last year, their CET roll number will be reflected in the template box instead of their NEET Roll number. This is because KEA’s database has CET numbers for all years as a common number, a KEA statement said.

According to KEA, the candidate’s name should be entered exactly as it appears on the NEET application form. If the candidate changes the way the name is written, the KEA software will display a message saying “Do you want to continue the registration even though NEET data doesn’t match?” The candidate is advised to click “OK” to proceed.

Candidates who have already appeared for the UGCET 2022 exam should enter the same password and login ID used for the UGCET 2022 exam to register for the UGNEET 2022 exam.

The Karnataka NEET UG counselling process is simple and straightforward – registration, fee payment, online option entry, document uploads, verification of documents, seat allotment and joining process. All you need to do is follow the instructions and you’ll be well on your way to securing a place in the college of your dreams!

West Bengal TET Exam: 'Qualified' Candidates Stage Protest Seeking Appointment In Schools

West Bengal, TET: The protesters had initially blocked the road at the busy Karunamoyee crossing during the day and then moved to the primary education board office, which is situated nearby.

Hundreds of candidates, who claimed to have cleared Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) in 2014, staged a sit-in on Monday outside the office of the West Bengal Board of Primary Education in Salt Lake, demanding that they be given immediate job appointment letters.

IndiaEducation Counselling

The agitators said that they had appeared for two interviews after qualifying the written TET 2014 examination, but did not get jobs to vide its panel, which, according to the board, has expired.

Asserting that they would not want to appear for a fresh examination, announced by the government for this year, the candidates demanded that they be appointed as teachers in West Bengal government-sponsored and -aided schools as per the previous merit list.

The protesters had initially blocked the road at the busy Karunamoyee crossing during the day and then moved to the primary education board office, which is situated nearby.

Despite persuasion by the police, they refused to call off the protest
“Why should we appear for another exam, having already cleared all rounds in 2014,” a woman candidate, participating in the protest, said.
Former West Bengal Board of Primary Education chairman Manik Bhattacharya, also a ruling Trinamool Congress MLA, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on October 11 in connection with the alleged irregularities in the recruitment process of primary teachers in the state.

Bhattacharya was removed from the post of chairman on an order of the Calcutta High Court, before which several petitions have been moved alleging graft in the appointment process of teachers in state-sponsored and -aided schools.
