Ludhiana announced on August 23 DEO pulls up schools

Issuing a strict warning, Ludhiana DEO’s order stated that in case of schools won’t follow the directions of the education department, she would inform the board about such schools and would further seek disaffiliation.

Coming down heavily on private schools for not uploading their school data regularly on the e-Punjab web portal, district education officer (DEO) Jaswinder Kaur directed them to upload the required information by August 23 to avoid any stringent action, including disaffiliation.

The DEO, in her order, directed schools, including aided, central schools, Adarsh schools, associated schools, and schools affiliated with CBSE, ICSE, or PSEB, to immediately upload their respective data on the state education portal.

According to the officials, out of 1,314 private schools in the district, around 119 haven’t uploaded even 40% of their school data regarding new admissions, number of students, number of teachers, etc on the portal as per the mandatory guidelines.

“Other 23 schools have not completed over 80% of their work and are taking the directions of the education department for granted. The department will soon initiate serious action against them if they will not upload their data by August 23,” a senior education officer said.

Notably, the data stored on the portal of the Punjab education department is used for various surveys of the Union and state governments.

“It is very unfortunate that even after four months of commencement of 2022-23 academic session, over 100 schools have not bothered to upload their school data on the portal. Schools haven’t uploaded the data of the new admissions even as the Class 10 and 12 results were out for long,” the DEO said.

Issuing a strict warning, her order stated that in case of schools won’t follow the directions of the education department, she would inform the board about such schools and would further seek disaffiliation.
“Schools will be responsible for action against them in case of further negligence. In case of any technical issues, schools can contact the local management information system (MIS) wing,” the DEO added.

Meanwhile, Vishal Mittal, district coordinator, MIS wing, has also written to such schools for immediate compliance with the orders citing that the education portal was being closely watched by higher authorities in the education department.

Over 8000 Students Are Affected By The Cancellation Of CUET 2022 Exams At 13 Exam Centres.

NATA 2022 important dates

The fourth phase of the Central University Entrance Test (CUET)-UG was cancelled on Wednesday at 13 centres due to some technical reasons, affecting nearly 8,700 candidates, officials said. The CUET is a gateway for undergraduate admissions in all central universities. The University Grants Commission (UGC) announced that examinations scheduled for today were cancelled in 13 centres due to technical difficulties. A total of 91 universities, including all of the country’s central universities, will be offering undergraduate courses through the CUET (UG).

Out of the 13 centres where exams were cancelled, eight are in Delhi, two in Varanasi, and one each in Bihar, Gaya, and Faridabad. Students from several centres said they were told the exam has been cancelled due to technical glitches and server problems. The first phase of these examinations started on July 15 and will continue until August 30. They are being conducted for admission to the first year. The new date for the examinations will be announced on Thursday. However, the proposed date for the examinations is August 25.

On the other hand, some students claimed that their exam began at least two hours later than expected.” We waited for two hours for the exam to begin in the first shift. Some of the students were also sent back citing technical glitches,” said Devyani, a CUET candidate who travelled to Pitampura for her exam.”I am in a total mess. The fourth phase is being conducted and the exam cancellations are still going on. Such an experiment with our careers and academic lives,” another student said.

Demand Extra Attempts NEET, JEE, CUET Aspirants? Did Protest After Tech Glitches in Entrance Exams.

Aspiring students who want to take the NEET exam are demanding another exam be given, citing irregularities and potential cheating during the last exam. JEE students who took the exam are also requesting the third attempt for all students. Those who are scheduled to take the CUET exam in 2022 have also asked for a re-test, citing last-minute center changes and other glitches that caused problems during the exam.

Demand Extra Attempts NEET, JEE, CUET Aspirants

After repeated tech glitches in entrance exams including NEET, JEE, and CUET among others, students have launched a joint protest against the exam conducting body National Testing Agency (NTA). A large section of students has marched towards Jantar Mantar in Delhi while others are extending support online by tweeting with the hashtag.

Not just students but education activists have also joined the protest and are demanding a retest or extra attempt. While NEET aspirants are citing the irregularities in the examination and the rigging of the NEET paper as reasons why another exam should be given, JEE students want the third attempt for all. Those appearing for CUET 2022 too have asked for a re-test citing last-minute center changes and other glitches during exams.

While medical students want the NTA to conduct a re-exam for the medical entrance test to get another chance to improve their scores, engineering aspirants are demanding a third attempt for JEE Main claiming that technical problems hampered the exam for several candidates. A few exam centers faced technical glitches and students alleged that several questions were not displayed properly on the screens for JEE Mains. Students also claimed that exams were not even conducted in the second shift at some centers, so they’re feeling pretty cheated out of an opportunity to prove their skills.

Many students who were registered to take the CUET exam missed their opportunity due to last-minute center changes and technical issues. As a JEE, NEET result, the NTA has already rescheduled exams for many of these students. However, the students are still demanding that the NTA conduct an extra attempt for all three exams this year due to the technical and administrative glitches that created a lot of problems in the first place.

As online flyers indicate, student activist Pawan Bhadana is spearheading a symbolic protest with the All India Students Union (AISU). The Google Form link circulated on Twitter asks students if they are willing to participate in the protest, with many students, parents, and educators joining in.
